ORLANDO – May 6, 2024 – Avient Corporation, a premier provider of specialized and sustainable materials solutions and services, is proud to announce the addition of new super tough PA6 and PA66 grades to its Nymax™ REC Recycled Nylon Formulations product line, each containing post-industrial recycled content. Avient will also feature these grades during its technical seminars at NPE 2024 in Orlando, May 6-10.
The two new super tough nylons are available in black and provide excellent notched impact resistance, including at cold temperatures. The specialty recycled content formulations make them well-suited for various applications across the consumer, industrial, transportation, and building and construction industries. In some applications, the mechanical properties of the Nymax REC super tough PA 6 grade may make it a cost-effective alternative to traditional toughened PA66. Both Nymax REC super tough grades offer comparable performance to traditional super tough nylons while also incorporating post-industrial recycled (PIR) content to offer a more sustainable option. The PA6 grade contains 76% PIR, and the PA66 grade contains 78% PIR content, resulting in up to 81% lower cradle-to-gate product carbon footprint (PCF) than traditional alternatives made without recycled content. Avient PCF values are determined using its PCF Calculator, which is certified by TÜV Rheinland and meets the ISO 14067:2018 standard.
“These super tough nylons were developed to provide our customers new, recycled, lower carbon footprint options for high-performance material needs,” said Matt Mitchell, Director, Global Marketing, Specialty Engineered Materials at Avient. “Our commitment to both performance and sustainability enables us to give customers alternatives for challenging applications.”
These latest super tough Nymax REC grades are manufactured in North America and commercially available globally. All grades are customizable for specific application demands, including where ultraviolet (UV) performance is required.
Avient is exhibiting at NPE 2024 in Orlando from May 6-10 in room S210 in the South Hall. On May 9 at 11 a.m., Jeremy Gray, Application Development and Technical Service Engineer, Specialty Engineered Materials at Avient, is presenting “Exploring Sustainable Alternatives to Traditional Polyamides,” including the new super tough recycled grades.
